Have you tried hair service in Manila?

Although there are a lot of hair salons, I cannot imagine how hair service is in the Philippines because hair style culture is totally different from my country. So that I investigated hair salon on my foot in Makati, Ortigas and Pasay and from the internet.

Classification of hair salons

There are 3 types of hair salons when it comes to price range.

  1. High price
  • Haircut: Php. 400–500
  • Hair coloring: Php. 900–3,500
  • Hair rebonding: Php. 4,000–9,000

2. Middle price

  • Haircut: Php. 150–350
  • Hair coloring: Php. 1,300–2,600
  • Hair rebonding: Php. 2,000–7,000

3. Low price

  • Haircut: Php. 30–100
  • Hair coloring: Php. 200–600
  • Hair rebonding: Php. 2,000–5000

Few high price salons have the different price based on the grade of stylists. But the price difference is not that big. Also, the longer hair is, the more expensive hair service is.

Available resource to check hair salon

There is no platform to compare hair salons online. Currently, the available resource is the followings.

  1. Website about city information like clickthecity.com
  2. Blogs
  3. Official website
  4. Social network
  5. Word of mouth

Only few hair salons have an official website and hair sample is not provided as far as I checked. For social networks, some hair salons have facebook page. On the other hand, some of high-end hair salon are managing facebook and Instagram. They mainly posting package deal or discount. As a customer, those are useless to check the quality of hair style.

Conclusion

The best way to find brilliant hair salon is the followings.

  1. Pick up hair salons which price and location are suitable from the internet or on foot.
  2. Find word of mouth from google or friends. (If we can check what kind of people are customers, it’s better.)

In the Philippines, there is no license required for hair stylists. I think this lack of information online is causing a huge difference between customers expectation and the technique/experience of hair salons.

I wish if hair samples which hair salon actually made would be available online. Then it will attract more customers.
